Quercus rubra

Nothern red oak

The winter oak is a deciduous tree of the beech family; together with the summer oak it is the most important deciduous tree in Central Europe after the beech. It reaches a height of 20 to 40 metres. It has a slender, ovoid or irregular crown, even internally foliated, and is smaller in size (and of a shorter age) than the summer oak.
