Lonicera xylosteum
European honeysuckle
A richly branched shrub with thin grey, later dark brown to reddish-brown, obtusely quadrangular annual growth, with a brownish margin of the pith. The leaflets are pear-shaped to glabrous, unlike those of black honeysuckle, which are hollow.
The buds are long-conical, slightly spaced from the stem, with a tuft of whitish hairs at the apex. One apical bud.
